embroidery class

on this beautiful sunday, i took a photo a photo embroidery class at the eliot school (i had only gone to figure drawing night there before, which i desperately want to attend again).

i've never tried embroidery before, so it took me out of my comfort zone.  good for developing empathy for my own students.

the instructor, textile artist joetta maue, was really great both in her expertise and in her encouragement of experimentation.  "embroidery is drawing with thread".  so fun!

unfortunately, smokey did not approve and chewed up the hoop when i left him for a moment.  what a critic!
